Arts Practice
As an artist I am interested in places, land, nature, wellbeing and healing. I am currently moving towards a sustainable arts practice predominantly using plants and earth pigment found and grown locally. Using these pigments changes the way I paint, I feel called to give the materials more space to speak for themselves and have their own creative agency.
My work involves spending long periods outdoors and building relationship with specific places and people in north Wales where I currently live, and the places I travel to on western edges of the UK and Eire.
My training as an eco-therapist and my concerns about environmental degradation are weaved into my work, I am aware of how my neurodivergent mind has a strong connection to the ‘more than human’ world. Earth pigments are a pathway which connects me to place, specifcally those of my genetic and ancestral Brythonic origins in northwest England and North Wales. I also take inspiration from time spent in Scotland and Eire.
