Gwyrddni
A collaborative project with the Community climate action movement GwyrddNi in Gwynedd. I have set up a small area for growing plants to produce colour for ink and paint. This is situated in Gardd Ffrancon a beautiful community garden in Bethesda looking out to the Carneddau and Dyffryn Ogwen.

The philosophy behind the project is not only about producing colour and beautful ink but inviting people to connect more deeply with the natural world, learning about and relating to plants, and engaging in a slow creativity which is in contrast to the often rushed and demanding pace of our modern lives. So far people have come together to plant seeds and look after plants.
In august we processed indigo leaves to save blue pigment. In October I will be running a billingual arts workshop for local people, demonstrating colours the plants will give us and how we make this into ink. We will use colours from the plants we have grown, as well colour from plants that are growing wild in local area. There will then be time to play with the inks to make images of the plants and landscape around Gardd Ffrancon.
