Kimnel Dunes Nature Reserve - Sandy Cove

Here I worked with a group of up to 12 people, ranging from people who were terrified of art to experienced artists. We altered between the community centre and the dunes, spending time experimenting the materials both inside and outdoors. Participants took art kits with them in a portable box with a drawing board and quality heavy weight watercolour paper. We enjoyed being outside together in the elements, I supported the group to connect in a quiet meditative and mindful way with the nature and landscape around them, and guided them to find their own way to express their deepening sense of wellbeing and connectedness.

Over eight weeks the group bonded, supporting and encouraging each other, offering reflections on how to develop art work whilst growing their confidence and their own unique styles. We also experimented with marbling paper and with handmade inks. By the end of course we had made three different types of artists books containing images and words capturing their experiences in nature.
