Lines in the Landscape

Lines in the Landscape

This day workshop was commissioned by Cymdeithas Eryri Snowdonia Society  it incorporated a local walk in Betws Y Coed with guided nature-based mindfulness.  People had time outdoors with natrual arts materials to enjoy being in the nature and to sketch lines, contours and features in the landscape. They were guided in nature conection and in simple outdoor sketch book actvities.

Back in the studio we worked with the sketches that people had made, combing these with maps, inks, and marbled papers so that people could create their own personalised maps which were meaningful to them. This type of workshop is suitable for all for all and encourages a playful experimental approach to image making that is fluid and organic, this results in organic and expressive images which invokes a sense and feeling of place.

I enjoyed everything, it was jam packed with creativity. I have learnt techniques and hot use mediums. I also enjoyed getting out of my comfort zone, going with the flow and not overthinking the process. Splitting the course between the indoors and outdoors was a really nice touch. I really hope to come on one of your workshops again soon.
